Creator of Page Control InDesign Plug-In Cheated, Cut Out

Between 2003 and 2006 I created the concept, feature list, and sketches of the behavior & results for an InDesign plug-in that would enable multiple page sizes in a single InDesign document. The plug-in would later be titled Page Control. In 2006 I approached DTP Tools, a maker of InDesign plug-ins, with a deal to cooperate on the creation of what would become Page Control. Specifically, I licensed the concept and feature list to DTP Tools to code into a functional plug-in, and together we would market the resulting product.

For the first year, we did just that, and we continued to work towa…

My Interview on Inside Digital Design Radio

Recently I appeared on the wonderful radio program and podcast Inside Digital Design Radio, hosted by Scott Sheppard and Gene Gable. Gene shared a hilarious anecdote about the Secret Service confiscating his design work and filled us in on a little known concept called “property trademarks” wherein even photographs of a building or tree could infringe on someone else’s intellectual property. Gene asked me about some of my newer projects like Workflow:Freelance, Gurus Unleashed, and the InDesign plug-in I created, PageControl, as well my long-time publications Qu…

Firefox Float Drop Bug, Oh How I Hate Thee

I’ve been wrestling with the well-publicized Firefox float drop bug for more than 2 years now–since before it was a well-publicized bug, since a time when even a whispered insinuation of a potential CSS rendering bug in the Holy Firefox inspired a stoning from the community. Learning about Celebrity News and Gossip

No one has ever accused me of being a font of knowledge when it came to celebrity news and gossip. Music? Oh, yeah. I’m very good with song and band names, particularly 60s, 70s, and 80s rock, pop, and funk. Movies? Sure. I watch a lot of movies, and I can recall most of the plots and major details from all the films I’ve seen over the course of my life. Which celebrity is getting married or divorced? Who just got out of rehab? What skank Paris Hilton is boffing this week? I have no clue. In fact, I hope to hell I never have to type “Paris Hilton” again. She’s not worth the eff…

Skin: ImaginationBox for Sysmetrix

I posted a new SysMetrix skin to WinCustomize. The skin is part of a suite of skins I’m building for DesktopX, WindowBlinds, Quintessential CD Player (”QCD”), CursorXP, Bootskin, and probably IconPackager. The entire suite, like the SysMetrix skin shown here, is based on natural media creative tools (i.e. crayons, paints, technical pens, colored pencils).

If you have the freeware SysMetrix, or just want to take a look, visit my skin: WinCustomize Skins & Visual Styles: SysMetrix Library: ImaginationBox
