  • Freelancers: Don’t for­get your 2009 tax credit — self-employed work­ers who make less than $75,000 a year in adjusted gross income are eli­gi­ble for the Making Work Pay tax credit for the 2009 tax year, a ben­e­fit of up to $400. (If you file jointly and earn less than $150,000 com­bined, the ben­e­fit maxes out at $800.) As an added bonus, this tax credit will be avail­able again for the 2010 tax year.

  • Good Points, But I Disagree, Print Ain’t Dead Dammit — Stop Delivering Mail: Build USPS 2.0 — In a recent TechCrunch arti­cle, entre­pre­neur Marc Andreessen sug­gested that tra­di­tional media out­lets “burn the boats,” mean­ing they should stop pub­lish­ing print ver­sions of their pub­li­ca­tions. We need to do the same thing when it comes to send­ing mail.
  • Why Apple Wants to Kill Adobe | I Said This All 7 Years Ago — I’ve been say­ing for years, ever since 2003 when an Apple employee spilled to me, then an Adobe employee, that Apple had a strat­egy to kill Photoshop along with code and apps to work toward that goal. The first vol­ley was the Core image effects, fol­lowed by improve­ments to iPhoto, then Aperture. There’s been a pro-grade image edi­tor hid­ing behind the scenes at Apple since ’03. But Apple can’t release it until it’s given the mar­ket a viable alter­na­tive to all the major Adobe point prod­ucts that drive more 70% of new Mac sales.
