Creative Community Bulletin 28 March 2011 Through 07 April 2011

These are the articles, blogs, and resources I found interesting and worthy of sharing for 28 March 2011 through 07 April 2011:

  • Of the 1%, by the 1%, for the 1% | Society | Vanity Fair – Among our closest counterparts are Russia with its oligarchs and Iran. While many of the old centers of inequality in Latin America, such as Brazil, have been striving in recent years, rather successfully, to improve the plight of the poor and reduce gaps in income, America has allowed inequality to grow.
  • The Art of Adam Betts » Adobe CS5 Icon Replacement – Icon replacement for Creative Suite 5 based on a mix of CS5′s product box and icon design.

37 application icons, 300 document icons with application folder icons.

  • Scanning Around With Gene: When Letraset Was King | CreativePro.com – For serious graphic designers, Letraset was the Adobe of the Seventies. Here’s a look at two of the company’s catalogs from 1970 and 1973.
  • Your Agency On PCs | ideasonideas – From an aesthetic standpoint, the Macs delivered all we had hoped for. I can’t stress enough how nice it is to have a single cable leaving the back of a Mac, versus the rat’s nest that accompanies our PCs. Any perceived efficiencies turned out to be wishful thinking, though. In fact, as a result of the experience, I’m even more convinced that the PC is the right choice for today’s agency.
  • DIY Cloud: Two Hard Drives That Let You Access Files Anywhere – It has long been a dream of mine to connect a hard drive at home to the Internet. This dream, of late, has been deferred by the rise of cloud services like SugarSync and Dropbox but two hard drive manufacturers, Buffalo and Iomega, have come out with compelling devices that seem to finally allow home and home office users to get the benefits of cloud hosting with the safety of complete control over your data.
  • YouTube – Will It Blend? – iPad – We’ve heard that the iPad will change your life, but will it change the way you blend?

Marvel and ABC are developing a TV return for comic icon the Incredible Hulk. CBS last produced a memorable series featuring the jade giant that ran from 1978–82 and starred Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno.

  • See the new and improved Wonder Woman costume in action – It looks like NBC has ditched Wonder Woman’s heinous shiny blue pleather pants and boots. Thank goodness. Actress Adrianne Palicki was spotted filming David E. Kelley’s new series in a slightly modified Wonder Woman costume. What do you think?
  • The Font Game for iPhone & iPod touch – From I Love Typography comes The Font Game, the smash hit rapid-fire typeface-identifying game for the iPhone and iPod touch. Train your eyes by identifying more than 1000 font samples, and play quickly to secure a spot on the Hall of Fame
