Google Doodle for Birthday of Author Maurice Sendak
Today is Maurice Sendak’s birthday–or would have been, had he not passed away last year at the age of 84. If the name sounds familiar, Sendak was the American author and illustrator most famous for creating the beloved children’s book, Where the Wild Things Are (1963). His other books include In the Night Kitchen (1970), Outside Over There (1981), and his last, My Brother’s Book, published posthumously this year.
Google honors Sendak today with a beautiful, animated logo on Google’s home page. Mouse over the logo to reveal a play button that starts an animation that spans Sendak’s best known works. Click the magnifying glass within the animation to learn more about Sendak and his work.
If you come to this post after the Google logo has changed back, you can watch a video of the animation just below.
