SoftCare K4 Version 5.8 With CS3 Support is Available

At this year’s International K4 User Conference on June 15 in Hamburg, SoftCare pre­sent­ed ver­sion 5.8 of the pow­er­ful edi­to­r­i­al sys­tem SoftCare K4. Version 5.8 with sup­port for Adobe Creative Suite 3 is now avail­able, allow­ing K4 cus­tomers to ben­e­fit imme­di­ate­ly from the new cross-media pro­duc­tion oppor­tu­ni­ties offered by Adobe Creative Suite 3. Simultaneously, SoftCare released the option­al K4 XML Exporter mod­ule for K4 ver­sion 5.8.

One of the first com­pa­nies to devel­op InDesign-compatible plug-ins, SoftCare has always been the quick­est edi­to­r­i­al sys­tem ven­dor to sup­port the newest ver­sions of Adobe software.

SoftCare K4 is an inte­grat­ed sys­tem that con­trols and con­nects cre­ative and edi­to­r­i­al work­flows with Adobe InDesign and InCopy. Magazine, news­pa­per and book pub­lish­ers as well as agen­cies ben­e­fit from more effi­cient process­es and increased pro­duc­tiv­i­ty thanks to this solution.

User sto­ries and trend-setting strate­gies at the 3rd International K4 User Conference 

At this year’s User Conference, approx­i­mate­ly 130 atten­dees, includ­ing IT man­agers, man­ag­ing direc­tors and more, came to share expe­ri­ences and dis­cuss pub­lish­ing trends. In addi­tion to intro­duc­ing the lat­est K4 release, the User Conference has also fea­tured renowned inter­na­tion­al cus­tomers pre­sent­ing how they ben­e­fit from the inno­v­a­tive capa­bil­i­ties of K4. Among the speak­ers were rep­re­sen­ta­tives of BASF from Germany, St. Galler Tagblatt (NZZ Group)
from Switzerland, Hyresgästföreningen from Sweden and Le Point from France. USA-based BusinessWeek gave a deep insight into their process­es and showed how they already use K4 for cross-media pro­duc­tion. A pan­el dis­cus­sion at the end of the con­fer­ence with top-class par­tic­i­pants dis­cussed the future of pub­lish­ing and the result­ing chal­lenges for sys­tems and their users.

SoftCare K4 ver­sion 5.8 is avail­able from K4 System Integrators world­wide. Customers using K4 ver­sion 5.0 or high­er with valid main­te­nance agree­ments are eli­gi­ble for a free upgrade. The upgrade is com­pat­i­ble with Adobe Creative Suite 3 but also works for sys­tems still run­ning Adobe Creative Suite 2. The K4 XML Exporter is avail­able for pur­chase as an option for K4 5.6, 5.7 and 5.8 instal­la­tions. K4 sup­ports Mac OS X and Windows clients in mixed-platform envi­ron­ments. The serv­er soft­ware is avail­able for Mac OS X, Windows, Sun Solaris and Linux.
