Interestingly enough, a friend in the television industry recently told me something (that should have been common sense now that I think about it). The reason we see a proliferation of Macs on television and in movies is not because they are actually used that often (they aren’t, and not by businesses in general), and usually not by paid placement. Directors and producers favor Macs over PCs on a set because Macs are more interesting looking, thus they look better on camera than the ubiquitous beige (or even Dell black) PC.
