Creative Community Bulletin 06 May 2009 Through 08 May 2009

These are the articles, blogs, and resources I found interesting and worthy of sharing for 06 May 2009 through 08 May 2009:

  • Capture your displays as a Photoshop layered image – Don’t waste time capturing each window separately, importing them in your favorite PSD editor, naming the layers, positioning the images, etc.

Do it with Layers in no time! Press the capture hotkey or customize your capture in the inspector. You’ll obtain a full fledged PSD file with one layer per window, including menu and desktop icons, dock and menubar.

  • Self Promotion – » Self Promotion
  • Facebook Easter Eggs – Konami Code, Pirate Language – If you enter the Konami code (↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → B A ENTER – don’t do in a text box) after logging into Facebook you get a lens flare effect anytime you click, scroll or type anything. Good times. Unless your epileptic, in which case, dangerous times.
  • NPR: Lessons Learned From The Great Free-Chicken Fiasco Of 2009 – Kentucky Grilled Chicken is now the James Frey of fast food: something Oprah threw her support behind, and now will wind up having to apologize for in one way or another
  • Google to Let Users Post Bio Notes on Name Search Pages – Google now gives users the option to post a link to a Google profile at the bottom of name-query search pages, meaning that anyone searching for a user online can view information that the user wants the world to see. This potentially allows Google to use its search engine to create more of a social networking presence online, similar to Facebook and Twitter.
  • Terry White’s Tech Blog » MetaX completes me – The one thing I’ve found out about blogging is that if you blog about a product or workflow, there’s usually someone out there reading that post that’s either done the same thing you’re doing or tried other products that do similar things. I’ve gotten some of my best tech recommendations from the comments area of my posts. Well my blog readers were very quick to offer suggestions to help with my project this time too. Blog reader “Noël” suggested an app called MetaX, which would pull in the Movie Poster art AND other data. Well of course I went to go check it out and I was floored by how well it works!
