At MacExpo 2004, which runs November 18–20 in Islington, London, the highlight is sure to be the day one duel between Adobe InDesign CS and QuarkXPress. Chris Kitchener from Adobe and Shellie Hall with Quark will be championing their respective contenders in the desktop publishing showdown. They will attempt to prove, in front of an undoubtedly packed house, that their respective applications are superior in capabilities, real world application, and even future versions.
It’s already known that Hall will bring Quark’s secret weapon, the hitherto unseen but soon-to-be-released QuarkXPress 6.5, which includes QuarkVista, a set of basic image manipulation xtensions to allow basic photographic work within Quark. While exciting, the true speculation around the arena is whether Kitchener will bring InDesign CS (version 3), the current and year old release, or the next version of InDesign, currently in beta.
