The Art Institutes and Quark Announce Winners of Graphic Arts Competition

PRESS RELEASE

DENVER – 22 December, 2006 – It’s all about getting the creative juices flowing–and Quark knows how to do it. Quark Inc. announced today the winners in a graphic design competition it sponsored for students attending The Art Institutes system of schools. The second annual competition was a great opportunity for students to showcase their creative ideas and designs–all built using QuarkXPress.

The Art Institutes students represent the designers of tomorrow,” said Cherie Walker, Quark director of business development and education. “All of the entries we received this year were extremely professional and showed a great amount of creativity and hard work. We really enjoy working with the students and seeing what creative designs will be produced in the future when these talented students are in the workforce.”

This has been a very exciting competition for our students,” said Rich Moore, vice president of Academic Technologies for Education Management LLC, the parent company of The Art Institutes. “Quark’s involvement with our students helps them learn more about the software in a fun and competitive spirit. This competition gives the students an opportunity to explore the features of QuarkXPress and use it in a real-life design environment.”

As a software vendor for The Art Institutes system, Quark continues its commitment to the premier education partner and leader. Quark designed this competition to help motivate students and help teach them how to compete in the design industry using the award-winning QuarkXPress software.

The three regional winners will receive $1000 credit to use at The Art Institutes Student Store and a copy of QuarkXPress 7. The winners are Brett Whitham from The Art Institute of Las Vegas, Nick Santore from The Illinois Institute of Art – Schaumburg, and Fabian Sanchez from The Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. The competition was open for three months and judged by Quark specialists with backgrounds in the printing, advertising, and graphic arts industries.
