I’m one of those who signed the above petition. For more than 15 years people all over the world hated Quark for one main reason (besides crap support) – they ripped us off. In Europe, Asia and Australia they charged up to 250% more than the US price for their product. When Indesign arrived it was a breath of fresh air… great product, well supported and fairly priced. But there’s a bad smell surrounding the pricing of CS3. Adobe is doing a Quark. Prices outside the US are up to 100% above the American price, including English speaking countries. I’m very disappointed. I won’t be upgrading until either sanity prevails or I can get a US version.

Wow, 1409.00 £. Isn’t it like 2:1 to the US dollar right now? At least you can go with Final Cut, Aperture, and Shake. Those are better than Adobe’s in my opinion, but it’s gotta hurt now that Adobe owns Macromedia products too. Even the upgrade prices are ridiculous, and add tax to that too. Getting a copy of the US version doesn’t seem like a bad idea. I know a certain European CEO (wont’s say who) publicly said that Americans are cheap. Well, I’m not so offended anymore. I guess it’s better to be cheap than shafted.
