Graphic Inspector

Graphic Inspector (Mac Only)
QuarkXPress XTension from Zevrix Solutions

Graphic Inspector is a preflight solution for images and vector graphic files. The program is designed to help users of any trade, whether it’s print, web, prepress, publishing or digital photography. With Graphic Inspector, you can quickly get crucial information about entire folders of files thus eliminating the need to open and check each file manually.
Graphic Inspector will display info about file’s kind, color mode, resolution, color profile, spot colors, fonts, EXIF data and other attributes.

The highly customizable Checkup Presets will let you quickly spot files with unwanted attributes saving hours of manual checking and helping eliminate costly mistakes. For example, you can make Graphic Inspector warn you about all files whose color mode is RGB, format – JPEG, resolution is below 200 dpi, ICC profile doesn’t contain “USWebCoated” etc.

Graphic Inspector features

- Detailed file info
Graphic Inspector provides the following info about files:

- File kind
(includes TIFF with LZW, JPEG and ZIP compression, Photoshop EPS with JPEG compression, Photoshop DCS) ‑File size ‑Color mode of bitmap files and native Illustrator (.ai) files ‑Resolution of bitmap images ‑Embedded color profile name ‑Fonts in vector EPS and native Illustrator files (includes embedded fonts) ‑Spot colors in vector EPS, native Illustrator, Photoshop Duotone and Photoshop DCS (Multichannel) files ‑File type ‑File creator ‑File preview

- EXIF data
Digital cameras save JPEG files with EXIF (Exchangeable Image File) data.
Camera settings and scene information are recorded by the camera into the image file. Graphic Inspector displays the EXIF data in a drawer which can conveniently be hidden if you don’t require this info (see the top right screenshot).

- Checkup presets
When Graphic Inspector scans files, it can warn you about files that possess (or don¹t possess) certain attributes. You specify the warning conditions in the Checkup Presets window. The files that meet the conditions will be flagged with a warning sign. You can specify conditions for the following file attributes: Kind, Color Mode, Color Profile, Type, Creator, Size, Resolution, EPS fonts and Spot Colors. You can create different presets for various purposes, for example – print, web or PDF publishing.

- Export data
Export all scanned files info as tab-delimited text.

- Rescan
Rescan currently displayed files to reflect changes in modified files or to apply a different checkup preset.

- Various scanning options
You can initiate the scanning in several ways:
‑Drag and drop files/folders on the Graphic Inspector icon in the Finder or Dock, ‑Drag and drop files/folders on Graphic Inspector¹s file table, ‑Through the Open menu, ‑Select a folder in the Graphic Inspector Finder Windows table and click the Å’Scan¹ button (the Finder Window table shows the folders currently open in the Finder), ‑Select a folder in the system tree table and click the Å’Scan¹ button.

Check the “Scan subfolders” button to make Graphic Inspector scan all subfolders of every folder it scans.
