Smart Speller fol­lows the rules and excep­tions of spelling gov­erned by lead­ing acad­e­mies. Therefore, abbre­vi­a­tions, punc­tu­a­tion marks, fixed for­mats such as dates and num­bers (finan­cial data), and Internet address­es are con­trolled dur­ing the spelling process.

Smart Speller has a mem­o­ry that con­tains words, such as the user’s mis­takes or unique, dif­fer­ent­ly spelled words. The func­tion of its mem­o­ry for a whole com­pa­ny or sep­a­rat­ed busi­ness units could be its favourite style; words are col­lect­ed in sep­a­rat­ed user and/or serv­er lex­i­cons.
